Bidding by Proxy

Each time you place a bid, our system will monitor your auction and act as your proxy by doing the bidding for you. Proxy bidding lets you set an upper bidding limit--that's your maximum bid--while keeping your actual bids as low as possible. (Your maximum is private--we don't disclose it to anyone.)

If another party beats your initial bid, your proxy raises your bid by one single increment more than the challenging bid. This pattern continues until another bidder exceeds your maximum bid, or until you win the auction.

For example: A lamp has a current high bid of $75. Your initial bid must be at least one bid increment above $75-or $76. You decide that the lamp is worth $120, and you enter a $120 maximum bid. Even though you've set your bid at $120, your proxy holds your actual bid to $76.
